Welcome from Head Coach Heather Sterner
Welcome! I am so glad you are here. I am coach Heather Sterner and being a former collegiate athlete myself, I have so much passions for college bowling and the opportunities it offers to youth. I believe in not just growing my players as bowlers but as humans as well that are preparing to embark on the next chapter of their lives. We are at the end of the day still humans before athletes and have to approach all things with a growth mindset and continuously learn!
Our program is going into it's 5th season in the AMCC Conference of NCAA D3 bowling. Please don't let the "D3" stop you- we are looking for ELITE players to build a championship caliber team that can compete against the best of the best Division I programs. We treat our program very much like Division I with a commitment to high level training on and off the lanes. Our school offers exceptional opportunities to individualize your education and internship experiences and build networks with our incredible alumni networks. We are a HIDDEN GEM in the heart of the beautiful finger lakes :D
In the program's SECOND year of existence became the 2023 AMCC Conference Champions & Defeated Fayetteville St. in the first round of the NCAA Regional.
In 2023 Colleen Jump earned the National D3 Rookie of the Year honor

Coach Sterner competed as a collegiate bowler for Robert Morris University (Chicago) from 2007-2011. She then went on to the University of Central Missouri to be a graduate assistant to the Division II Women's Bowling program for two years. Coach Sterner was also the inaugural coach of the Roberts Wesleyan DII Bowling Program and coached for two years before resigning to focus on her Strength and Conditioning career. As an NSCA Strength and Conditioning Specialist she worked at RIT, SUNY Brockport, Alfred St., and Next Level Strength and Conditioning while also running her online training business BowlFit. She is in her 5th year coaching at HWS and also began a Conditioned to Bowl Podcast with her Bowling Strength and Conditioning Academy business partner. She still competes on the PWBA tour when she can and is the mom to her toddler, Luciana!
Mondays 5-7pm Tuesdays 5-7pm Wednesdays 1:1 or 2:1 practices sessions based on your schedule Fridays 2-5pm

We have a faculty mentor who was the former president of the Colleges- Joyce Jacobsen We also have a athletic study mentor for every team that can offer assistance and tutoring along with our Center for Teaching and Learning
Looking for players that adopt a growth mindset- always eager to learn more and listen to other views and perspectives along the way. We love athletes that have experience in other sports and posess leadership and communication skills! You can be a great bowler but it's even more important that you can be a great teammate!
